Stretch Denim Skirt Pattern

It was fun to get back to pattern testing this week with this useful and fun denim skirt from Itch to Stitch ! A denim skirt has been on my "need" list for my wardrobe. They can be dressed up or down for church or a trip to town. I ended up making two of the new Quebec skirt from Itch to Stitch . The first one you see is a stretch denim that came from my local thrift store. It has about 30% stretch, maybe a little more. It only need a year and a quarter yards of fabric in my size- a 12 on the Quebec chart. The fit on this skirt great and it has some stretch making it super comfortable! The waist is made with wide elastic, so it pulls on. I also love that it has FIVE pockets! There are back pockets you can stitch with your favorite topstitching design, two working pockets in the front, and a coin pocket. I meant to put rivets on the pockets, but when my package arrive I realized that I had ordered buttons instead of rivets. I may still get those rivets on. I just need to or

Itch to Stitch Antrim Sewing Pattern

Oh look at this pretty dress I got to test from Itch to Stitch ! It is the new Antrim dress . I like the cross-over bodice style and swing-y skirt style. It is both feminine and fun.There were lots of different body shapes in the the test group and this one looked cute on all of us! One of my favorite features is POCKETS! Who doesn't love pockets? The directions were easy to read, and the fit of the pattern is spot on. If you aren't aware, Itch to Stitch has cup sizes which makes fitting the bodice so much easier. It also comes in a huge range of sizes- 00-40.The drafting on ITS patterns is excellent. The pattern pieces all fit together great. My muslin was a gray poly cotton knit that sewed up nicely with the jersey needle I used. This blue mystery knit and my jersey needle did not play nicely together, so really was wishing for a stretch needle! Unfortunately, stretch needle broke and I had failed to replace. it. Easter Dress for V

For Easter this year I sewed up dresses for two of my girlies. The first was Simplicity 1208 in a size 6. This post will be about that one and the next will be dress two...an adorable vintage pattern from the 40's or 50's, I believe, and matching fabric! My fabric was a pretty yellow cotton with pink flowers. This has been in my stash for years. It was a gift from a friend who was moving. It sewed up easily and with minimal help from my good friend. Seam Ripper. I particularly like the knotted sleeves and the lace accent. Another plus is the cute loop buttons. I was happy to see them, because my buttonhole stitch on my machine has been a pain lately! The only only adjustment I made was to add a couple inches to the skirt since my daughter, V, is a little tall for her age, and I wanted her to be able to wear it longer. The flower on the front is safety pinned on so it doesn't get wrecked in the wash. It comes off before washing and goes back on after ironing. My
